(CW HENDERSON PUBLISHER www.newsfile.com) -- Three cases of Babesia microti infection may have been locally acquired in the state of New Jersey.
"The distribution and frequency of human babesiosis due to Babesia microti in North America appear to be increasing," wrote Eugene S. Eskow, University of Connecticut, and colleagues ("Southern Extension of the Range of Human Babesiosis in the Eastern United States," Journal of Clinical Microbiology, June 1999;37(6):2051-2052).
