Jun. 11 -- LANCASTER, Texas -- It's been an uphill battle, but CarMax Auto Superstores is gradually carving out a slice of the retail auto business -- and getting close to making money at it, too, says Austin Ligon, president of the Richmond, Va.-based company.
CarMax was built on the premise that consumers should be able to buy new and used cars in much the same way they buy computers, televisions and appliances from CarMax's parent company, Circuit City Stores.
