Remember raves? Some people still throw them. Some people still attend them. But (happily for rave folks), these electronic-music dance parties have remained in the underground. Which is a roundabout way of saying that electronic music has yet to hit with a bang.
Yet it has not faded into oblivion. Instead, the genre exerts its influence on the mainstream more subtly. It has added an upbeat buzz to popular music as it simultaneously absorbs elements of rock. The end result of that interplay: ``Electronica'' is having a far more powerful effect on music than some here-today-gone-tomorrow trend.
