ILLINOIS GOV. GEORGE RYAN has said he will sign into law a measure providing tax credit for parents of private school students. It passed the House May 12 and was previously approved by the Senate. The credit will provide for a maximum $500 tax deduction per family for tuition, books and lab fees.
EIGHT BOSTON BANKS have pledged to provide $250 million in below-market mortgages to poor families living in Boston over the next five years.
