A dietary supplement containing eight herbs, sold in the USA as PC SPES by Botaniclab and other companies, has been shown to have a beneficial effect on surrogate markers in patients with prostate cancer, according to researchers at the University of California at San Francisco, USA.
In the studies, a group of 61 men with advanced prostate cancer were treated with the herb, and three-quarters of them experienced a fall of 50% or more in the levels of prostate-specific antigen in their blood.
