NEW YORK-The Bread Machine Industry Association is finding that its membership is changing almost as fast as bread-machine prices are dropping.
The BMIA was formed to promote the category by advocating the use of bread machines. But faced with low profit margins, some bread machine makers are declining to renew membership. The shift in membership away from manufacturers is a dilemma the BMIA faced as the group gathered here for its annual meeting.
Recent BMIA dropouts include The West Bend Co., Household Products Inc. and Sunbeam Corp. Other companies that are members but did not attend the annual meeting included Panasonic and Zojirushi America Corp., ...
