OUTLOOK
Demand in the 1-million m.t./year global methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) market is improving, producers say, led mostly by a recovering Asian economy. MEK demand declined by 1% last year, and producers had forecast a similar drop for this year. However, most producers now project global demand growth of 0%-2% this year, and 4% growth in Asia. Global capacity utilization rates have risen marginally from 1998, to 85%.
