SANTA FE, N.M., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- With the American soprano, Sheri Greenawald in the title role, "Countess Maritza," Emmerich Kalman's light hearted operetta about love, intrigue and deception opens the 1999 Santa Fe Opera season, Friday, July 2. Santa Fe Opera founder and general director John Crosby conducts.

The capacity crowd will toast the season with champagne before the opera during a reception sponsored by AT&T (NYSE: T) and dance to the music of the opera orchestra at its conclusion. 1999 is the second season in the new award-winning theater, and the first for the Electronic Libretto System which provides individual English translations on a small ...
