Jun. 28 -- WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. -- One of the worlds' most profitable coal companies, Peabody Holding Co., devised a scheme to cheat the Navajo Nation out of fair royalty payment for its coal, in one of the largest Indian mineral transactions in history, according to a federal complaint filed in the District of Columbia by the Navajo Nation.
Peabody "devised a scheme to defraud, corrupt, cheat, steal," and deprive the Navajo Nation of its right to control its coal, the Navajo Nation said.
