Boston's historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace is a hot spot for tourists - in more ways than one.
Its early 19th century bricks heat up like an oven during the summer months, bathing visitors in sweat and making merchants hot under the collar.
The heat generated by the many shops' grills and ovens causes business to nosedive and employees to quit at an increased rate in July and August, merchants said.
"Over 1,000 grills are going here at once," said Greg Haralabatos, manager of Aris B-B-Q. "Outside is 95 degrees and here is 120. Who wants to come here and eat?"
