This small assemblage of thirty-seven loose pages, titled "... for fall is the season of my return," is vintage Astr[superscript one]de Ivaska. It contains several previously published poems, but reading Ivaska is never deja vu, or, more appropriately, deja lu, since the reader encounters ever new contexts and discovers facets not fully uncovered before. The postface, dated Fall 1988, tells of "our crossing" the border between Estonia and Latvia, which signified for the poet the return after forty-four years ...
