Engineers at the University of Delaware are perfecting an algorithm for a computer chip that would regulate insulin delivery by an implantable pump in patients with type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes.
The Delaware group described their mathematical model at the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation meeting in Boston, Mass. in early June. The model is based on 5-minute intervals of serum glucose levels. By using the ...
