Unless board members have specific responsibilities, there's insufficient involvement, buy-in, and accountability for the work of the board. Our volunteer president designates tasks for everyone on the board, assigning them to develop and accomplish specific goals for individual projects and oversight responsibilities. An evaluation at quarterly board meetings helps us gauge performance, measure success, and plan for the future. Our executive committee meets periodically to monitor progress and identify emerging issues for action.
