Nomar Garciaparra's second All-Star Game was full of special moments last night.
None of them had anything to do with his performance as the starting American League shortstop.
AL manager Joe Torre had Garciaparra take the field in the top of the fourth inning, only to substitute Yankee Derek Jeter before the first pitch was thrown.
That allowed Garciaparra to proceed to the bench in full view of the adoring hometown throng.
The ovation was tremendous.
