Jul. 17 -- The Securities and Exchange Commission has won the first round against a Miami firm it says sent junk faxes to tantalize people with "inside information" on companies and goad them into buying their stock.
U.S. District Judge Alan S. Gold issued temporary restraining orders against The Globus Group, of 810 Brickell Ave., and its principal, Bruce A. Gorcyca, also known as Anthony DiMarco. The orders prohibit Globus and Gorcyca from violating the SEC's anti-fraud laws. Gold also froze their assets until a July 30 hearing.
