Jul. 22 -- PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Rhode Island Medical Society and 17 other health-care oriented groups warned yesterday that a "patients' bill of rights" bill passed last week by the U.S. Senate might actually curb strong patient protections now provided in Rhode Island.
The local health advocates said this would happen if the provisions of the Senate bill in fact became federal law, which would take precedence over state laws.
