RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 1999--

ICSA, Inc. today released results from its 1999 Computer Virus Prevalence Survey which revealed that the rate of virus infections continue to increase despite significant coverage of PCs and servers by modern anti-virus software (83% of the respondents said 90% or more of their PCs were covered).

Median rates of infection per month per 1,000 PCs in January and February 1999 were about four times the rates for 1997 and about twice the rates for 1998. The median infection rate per month per 1,000 PCs in February 1999 was 7 compared with 5 in January 1999 which indicates a rise of over 20% in a single month.
