Robust, exciting, bewildering, and sometimes overwhelming to the point of stupefication, the 47th ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics accurately represented the growth of the technology on which it is based. The conference was held at the Wyndham Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas on June 13-17. All the conference meetings were held in the hotel, which was very convenient for attendees. The convenience was important, since the program offered an outpouring of information well beyond the capacity of human comprehension, with well over three hundred presentations per day including poster sessions.
