Jul. 25 -- To chart progress in the battery wars, a score card of TV ads may be helpful. Let's see. Rayovac has Michael Jordan. Energizer has a memorable bunny. And Duracell? The battery maker now owned by Gillette Co. has neither pitchman nor pitch-beast.
No matter. What Duracell does have is some of its biggest leads ever over Energizer, mostly as a result of applying the same strategies to batteries that Gillette uses so well to sell razors.
