Li says the Chinese will lose faith in their government
Li Hongzhi, 47, the Falun Gong leader who now lives in New York, met last week with NEWSWEEK's Asia editor, Dorinda Elliott, and correspondent Gregory Beals to talk about the Chinese government's ban on his movement. Excerpts:
NEWSWEEK: What do you hear from your followers in China?
LI: I feel sorry for the way the Chinese government has treated the practitioners of Falun Gong. I think it is unfair.
