Jul. 30 -- What the cruise lines have been going through these past few weeks has not been easy.
Royal Caribbean was forced to admit it polluted the very seas it makes its living from. Carnival revealed dozens of allegations of on-board sexual assaults by employees.
Historically, the cruise lines have been somewhat secretive about how they operate.
"There was an `us vs. them' attitude by the cruise lines, which really worsened the situation and made it look as if there was something to hide," said Michael Driscoll, editor of Cruise Week, an industry publication.
