Local medical examiners say they won't begin a systematic examination of baby deaths attributed to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) in the wake of the guilty verdict in Garrett E. Wilson's trial.
Chief medical examiners from Maryland, Virginia and the District say they will reopen cases involving infant deaths attributed to SIDS when police or witnesses claim other causes of death.
"There is no plan to re-examine or reopen each and every one of those cases," said Dr. Jonathan Arden, the District's chief medical examiner.
