Anyone who's gone to college is familiar with that painful milestone of young adulthood called the all-nighter. But before you crashed into a heap on the couch, remember feeling giddy and high? Almost superhuman?
Well, researchers are gathering evidence that sleep deprivation _ known to the rest of us as staying up all night _ can actually lift depression, and even ward off premenstrual syndrome.
The latest findings on the mood-boosting benefits of not sleeping _ an area of inquiry in Europe for 40 years _ are reported by University of California, Irvine, researchers in Monday's American Journal of Psychiatry.
