NEW ORLEANS - The driver of a tour bus that crashed in May, killing 22 persons en route to a Mississippi Coast gambling casino, was under the influence of marijuana or hashish and over-the-counter sedatives, investigators concluded.
But as the local district attorney's office studied the massive investigative report by the New Orleans Police Department and the National Transportation Safety Board, preparing to file criminal charges against the driver, he died of heart failure.
