HMT Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: HMTT) announced today the demonstration of a 26.5 Billion Bits per Square Inch (26.5 Gb/in2) recording density using its advanced recording media in conjunction with high density Giant Magneto-Resistive recording heads from Read-Rite Corporation (NASDAQ: RDRT).

This demonstration is yet another world record in storage density and corresponds to greater than 38 Gigabytes of storage on a 3 1/2" diameter disk.
