Aug. 4 -- The heat has been on this summer for the Tennessee Valley Authority.
But in the basement of TVA's power headquarters in downtown Chattanooga, workers in the power load center have kept their cool -- and insured that most of their 8 million customers are cool as well.
The feverish economy and hot weather across the Tennessee Valley combined to set eight all-time power demand records during July. In eight of the past 10 days, TVA broke the previous peak record set just last year.
With temperatures in the upper 90s last Friday, TVA broke both its all-time power peak record by selling 28,296 ...
