AS THE TOUR GROUP ENDS ITS GUIDED visit to the Farnsworth House, the sleek glass-and-steel structure designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe on the banks of the Fox River in Plano, IL, a few stragglers get into conversation with a small, quiet-spoken, dapper Englishman standing by the entrance.
