The election of London's first real mayor -- as opposed to the centuries-old traditional figurehead Lord Mayor -- won't happen until next May, but the backbiting has already begun. The first nips are being aimed at Glenda Jackson, one of the greatest of actresses, who gave up the boards and the movies for a career in British politics. They -- the well-known "they" -- are saying that Glenda quit her job as transport minister for London in the nick of time before being sacked.
