Aug. 8 -- The next few years could be Salt Lake City International Airport's best and possibly last chance to obtain a prized direct flight to London.
A few slots remain open at the Gatwick Airport. In a few years, those slots are likely to be filled. Once that happens, getting a direct flight to London could become considerably harder.
"That's one of the reasons we've felt a real sense of urgency on this," says Stan Parrish, chairman of the Utah Air Travel Commission, which has the role of pushing for new air routes.
