The September 1998 package of deregulation on the import of wheat and wheat flour was positively welcomed by a number of wheat-producing countries by, among others, providing an import credit facility. This is so because the said deregulation package revoked the National Logistics Agency's (Bulog's) monopoly over the import of wheat and wheat flour, allowing general trading companies to import the commodity into Indonesia at an import duty of 0%.
