Tax issue delays GSM tender
International companies have been manoeuvring for position in the run-up to Agence Nationale de Reglementation des Telecommunications (ANRT) receiving bids for the kingdom's second global standard for mobiles (GSM) network.
The closing date for bids was extended by one week on 15 June. The delay was due to modifications in the tender documents to include all taxes in their bids, including a 20 per cent value-added tax. The winning bidder is to be announced by the end of July. The shortlisted groups were given until 22 June to return their offers to ANRT.
