BOSTON, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- A New Bedford woman was charged today in federal court with engaging in a five-year scheme to embezzle over $100,000 from the bank where she served as an Assistant Vice President.

United States Attorney Donald K. Stern announced today that LINDY M. LOPES, 51, of 56 Carriage Road in New Bedford, Massachusetts, was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of bank fraud, arising out of a complex five-year check fraud scheme.

According to the indictment returned today, LOPES was an Assistant Vice President of Plymouth Savings Bank and the branch manager of the bank's Mattapoisett branch until August, 1997. In that ...
