Aug. 13 -- More than two months after the CSX and Norfolk Southern railroads took control of Conrail's freight lines, delays and glitches continue to plague shippers throughout the region.
Although the problems appear to be decreasing, both railroad and government officials say it will be weeks before the rail freight system in the region is running reliably.
Freight yards in the Newark area remain clogged, according to the railroads' recent reports to federal regulators, and backups around the country are wreaking havoc with shipments, including items being sent by United Parcel and FedEx for just-in-time ...
