For almost two decades I was immersed in mainstream biomedical- and sciencepolicy issues in Washington, D.C., first at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), then the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and finally the Paralyzed Veterans of America's (PVA's) Spinal Cord Research Foundation.
