United Distillers & Vintners N.A. presented Teamsters negotiators with a third contract offer last week but said it plans to begin cutting jobs at its Allen Park Heublein plant by September and will close the plant within 10 months.
``After two days of talks, we submitted a proposal, and our hope is that it will be taken to the membership for a vote. If it's taken to the membership, we're confident this would be approved,'' said UDV media representative Jack Shea.He said the offer included enhanced severance, pension benefits and retiree medical benefits but that he could not provide details.
