NEW YORK -- This year's HFN Top 25 Floor Covering Retailers ranking reveals the evolution of several ongoing trends -- floor covering sales are continuing to grow at a healthy rate; and consolidation, acquisition and attrition are still reshaping the category, producing a shift to nontraditional channels of distribution.
Total floor covering sales for the Top 25 in 1998 was $8,739.8 million up over 10 percent from last year's Top 25 total of $7,887 million. While floor covering specialty stores still dominate the category with nine entities in the Top 25 and over 58 percent of the total sales ($5,114.1 million), home centers continue to pull marketshare from ...
