Aug. 15 -- The square gray personal computer Cheryl Hernandez has in her San Jose home is intimidating to her two kids. It's difficult to master and mistakes are easily made. They call it a scary machine. "And they get so frustrated that they don't want to use it," says Hernandez.
"If I could give them something more appealing," she says of her daughter and son, ages 4 and 6, "they might be more willing."
Hernandez is not alone in yearning for something more personal from a personal computer.
