Evidence suggests a growing rate of credit card fraud in international transactions originating from Belarus, the U.S. State Department said.
In a typical scam, U.S. vendors of computer hardware or other high-tech items are contacted online and transaction orders are billed to fraudulent credit cards. In some cases, purchase orders are processed and merchandise delivered before the fraud is discovered.
To minimize credit card fraud on international orders from the region, the State Department's Business Information Services for the Newly Independent States (BISNIS) urges American businesses to pay extra attention to validating each order and requesting ...
