Aug. 25 -- Is Louisiana-Pacific Corp. on its way to becoming Canada-Pacific?
The Portland-based building materials conglomerate Tuesday announced its third large foray into Canada in less than a year -- the proposed acquisition of Evans Forest Products Ltd., based in southeastern British Columbia.
In addition to expanding the company's geographic range, the deals increase the supply of timber available to the company. All three deals involve long-term licenses with Canadian provinces for harvesting trees to feed the new L-P mills.
