ATLANTA, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- An overwhelming majority of parents say they want and need afterschool programs, according to a study released today by JCPenney and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. The Mott/JCPenney Afterschool Survey, based on interviews with 1,100 registered voters between July 27-29, 1999, found that:

-- 92% believe there should be some type of organized activity or place

for children and teens to go every day after school

-- 65% believe there are not enough afterschool programs available for

children

-- 85% believe it is difficult for parents to find afterschool programs in
