The region will run its biggest test of year-2000 compliance today, but agencies involved in the exercise say it is unlikely the public will notice it is happening.
The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments will coordinate a test of year-2000 plans and contingencies - not of computer systems - at 15 public and private agencies in the District, Maryland and Virginia.
An estimated 500 people at the agencies will participate in the six-hour exercise, which begins at 9 a.m. and will simulate the period from 9 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 3 a.m. Jan. 1.
