PROJECT OVERVIEW:
U.S.-based DUKE ENERGY INTERNATIONAL (DEI), a subsidiary of DUKE ENERGY, was recently declared to be the winning bidder for 2 El Salvadorian power plants. The company's bid of $125,000,000 enabled it to acquire GENERADORA ACAJUTLA S.A. DE C.V. and GENERADORA SALVADORENA S.A. DE C.V. The thermal power stations in question have an installed, aggregate, generating capacity of 275 Mw.
As things currently stand, DEI is expected to assume operational control upon financial closing. As a result, the company has committed itself to invest $75,000,000 into the modernization of GENERADORA ACAJUTLA. This project is intended to enable adding ...
