HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Attorney General Mike Fisher has sent a letter to Cornell Corrections Inc. of Houston, Texas, informing the firm that Pennsylvania law does not permit private companies to own and operate private prisons within its borders.
Without authorization from the General Assembly, Fisher said, the company cannot operate and must cease construction of its private prison in Clearfield County. If the company does not respond by Sept. 15, Fisher said the state would sue to stop construction.
