DUBLIN, Ireland, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Boards of Independent Newspapers, plc announced today the company's interim results for the first six months to June 30, 1999. Notably, the Group showed a pre-tax profit increase of by 47% to a record 61 million euros. Strong advances in Ireland and Australia and the consolidation of APN News & Media Limited (APN) pushed the Group's operating profit up 23% to 82.6 million euros. This was achieved based on a 33% turnover increase of 525.7 million euros.
