Is momentum slowing in the Star Wars arena? So it seems.
"The Star Wars license is doing okay, but has slowed down quite a bit. We're hoping the ads slotted for October and November will give it a second wind," was the comment of a toy buyer for a major national chain based in Chicago.
The buyer for one of the Midwest's biggest toy wholesalers observed that although Star Wars has slackened, Hasbro's action figures ($7.99) are doing very well, but accessories, or boxed items, have slowed down.
"We're hoping with the hype expected to be generated this fall that sales momentum will increase in the fourth quarter," he said.
