A delegation of seven newly elected Nigerian female legislators is appealing to the United States to constantly watch their country and "put pressure on parties that try to take advantage" of the new democracy.
"We want to stress the importance of the United States keeping a sustainable interest in Africa, especially Nigeria because it is such a huge nation," said Lagos state Rep. Terri Harriman. "That interest should [extend] into the next century."
