Sep. 3 -- Early this spring, Amy Woods Brinkley climbed the Linn Cove Viaduct near Grandfather Mountain.
From the viaduct -- which looks like a highway tacked onto the mountain -- dizzying views extend beyond one's vision. But Brinkley, said a fellow climber, is not afraid of heights.
It's a good thing.
Because this summer, Brinkley was elevated to one of the highest positions held by a woman at the nation's largest bank, Bank of America, bringing her under the watchful eye of much of corporate America.
