PITTSBURGH, Sept. 13, 1999 /PRNewswire/ -- The H. J. Heinz Company (NYSE: HNZ) today formally launched its $37 million project to expand and transform its North Side factory into a Manufacturing Center of Excellence so that it will become Heinz's exclusive U.S. producer of quality soups and baby food. To celebrate this historic milestone and the crucial role that Heinz is playing as a partner in the North Side's renaissance, Heinz also announced a $2 million grant to the North Side Leadership Conference to support the non- profit organization's efforts to enhance the community and its economic vitality.
