Only time will tell what "Hearts in Atlantis" will mean to the career of Stephen King, who became the world's best-selling novelist by churning out dozens of terrific ghost stories before stalling out creatively in the early 1990s.
King kept writing, but book after book failed to make more than the shallow and expected commercial impact.
