One show dominates the Washington art scene each season. As we approach 2000, the blockbuster is "The Golden Age of Chinese Archaeology: Celebrated Discoveries From the People's Republic of China" at the National Gallery of Art. The show opens Sept. 19.
Though the recent Vincent van Gogh and Johannes Vermeer exhibits drew thousands of people, the "Golden Age of Chinese Archaeology" may prove to be the biggest - and best - attraction. Touted as the most important show of Chinese archaeological finds to visit the United States, the exhibit displays an exciting array of revelatory treasures.
